The artist known around the world as Herb McGruff has stamped his indelible imprint on the music scene born Herbert Brown in Harlem, New York. The streets of 140th & Lenox Ave quickly became his stomping grounds as he grew older & the talent he possessed became apparent to the people around him. He was invited to join in the now defunct hip-hop group Children Of The Corn, founded by the legendary rapper Big L (Corleone), which included icons like Ma$e, CamRon & Bloodshed (R.I.P.). The song "Harlem Kids Get Biz" was sampled on Harlem Streets by Immortal Technique. As their buzz grew...so did the skill levels, which proved valid cause. All the members went on to get solo record deals w/various labels (Bad Boy, Sony, Uptown/Universal).
  
McGruff debuted in 1995 on Big L's Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous and also appeared with Heavy D on "Waterbed Hev" & Monifah's hit single "I Miss You." This all led to Gruff being signed to his own contract, for Uptown/Universal, the Harlem rapper dropped his debut single, "Before We Start," in early 1998. The album, titled "Destined to be" followed in June, with appearances from Heavy D the LOX and Mase.  After the tragic passing of his friend & mentor, Gruff choose to step away from the game that he embraced. But being the artist he is, his heart is now and will always be about the music. Respected beyond the genres of urban and hip hop music, McGruff, whose musical influences cross cultural lines, has also been sought by diverse superstars, whose music similarly knows no boundaries, over the years McGruff has worked with various recording artists from major and independent labels.
