Released in February 2008, this was part of the iconic "Gangsta Grillz" series by DJ Drama and marked a turning point in Fabolous' career. His persona proved he was still one of the sharpest lyricists in the game, hence the name "Mixtape Fab". This pulled him away from being "Radio Fab" and his R&B-leaning hits like "Make Me Better" and "Baby Don't Go." which fans felt he was moving too far away from the gritty street rap that made him a star. This project was designed to be raw, punchline-heavy, and free of the polished "radio" sound. Which is why Fab stated "let people know there is no competition" and DJ Drama delivered. With his Street Family crew of Paul Cain, Freck Billionaire, and Red Café, this lead to street dominance and lyrical superiority. With tracks like "Hustla's Poster Child" with Cassidy and "Say Hello" remixing Jay-Z’s track from American Gangster, Fab was solidifying his place in the mixtape world!
