Aye! The project that launched Juelz Santana’s solo mixtape career. In 2004, Back Like Cooked Crack Vol. 1 was released, following the success of his first solo studio album, From Me to U, which came out in 2003. To solidify his independent identity, Juelz returned to the streets with his raw and unfiltered energy, demonstrating his strength as a solo artist. The mixtape featured a mix of original street anthems and freestyles over industry beats. Songs like “Daddy Is Home,” “Roll Call” with T.I., “What More Can I Say Freestyle,” and “Ayo” with Cam’ron showcased his solo success, his collaboration with a Southern rapper, and his freestyle abilities as a New York City lyricist. Produced by The Heatmakerz throughout the project, this is where his “Human Crack” moniker was born. Without Def Jam backing, Juelz was able to fully express his charisma and have the freedom to create a 70-minute project that set the stage for two more classic volumes, making it a trilogy that fans still love and listen to to this day. Aye! With our new series, Class Mixtape Run, we are here to bring that feel back like it was 2004 all over again! On behalf of Live Mixtapes listen to it below!
