Released as a massive double-disc project on January 24th, 2011 and hosted by DJ Skee and Funkmaster Flex. This project was a massive viral success, garnering over 1.1 million downloads in its first three days. Unlike many mixtapes that use industry beats, this project featured original production by Dr. Dre, The Neptunes, RZA, Bink!, Nottz, Cool & Dre, and 1500 or Nuthin'. One of the few mixtapes that had that album quality feel. Featuring Snoop Dogg on "Purp & Yellow", this flipped Wiz Khalifa’s "Black and Yellow" as a tribute to the Lakers. "Soo Woo" (in reference to Blood gang culture), this featured Lil Wayne and was considered a street favorite. Praised for its smooth, cinematic vibe, "The Ocean" features a rare appearance from Dr. Dre. While the song "History" is a massive tribute to hip-hop legends Big Daddy Kane, Doug E. Fresh, and KRS-One. This mixtape proved to the industry that he could still command a massive audience with Rolling Stone giving it a rare 3.5/5 star review for a mixtape. With our new series, Class Mixtape Run, we are here to bring that feel back like it was 2011 all over again! On behalf of Live Mixtapes listen to it below!
